Alex Hookway

Alex Hookway is an English-Qualified solicitor who, specialists in renewable energy, oil and gas, and the supply industry. Alex sits in both the Energy and Shipping departments working across Selmer’s offices in Oslo, Stavanger and internationally to support clients. Alex offers pragmatic and strategic advice to offshore contractors throughout the entire offshore project lifecycle – from tender processes, contract negotiations and procurement to dispute resolution during the construction and operational phases. Alex has a particular interest and reputation for assisting FPSO owners and operators on their procurement and contract negotiation needs. Unusually, Alex is able to work with clients across their project and dispute resolution needs, conducting litigation and arbitration proceedings for clients when need and using this skill set to get potential disputes to appropriate settlements where possible. Alex also has particular expertise in negotiating and developing shipbuilding and transport and installation contracts for heavy lift installation contractors, cable-lay and foundations installation contractors. Alex is also fortunate to support BIMCO, lecturing on the key offshore contractor charter formats across Europe and Asia as well as sitting on the HEAVYLIFTVOY26 and HEAVYCON27 revision sub-committees.
