Expertise

Elvar Idarsson is part of the energy department at Selmer, where he provides legal advice to various clients in the energy sector. He has experience in contract negotiations within the offshore and supplier industries, with a particular focus on EPCI projects, subcontractor contracts, rig contracts, and charter parties. He has also assisted with transactions for companies in the oil and gas sector. Elvar is also a member of Selmer's dispute resolution team and works with dispute resolution across Selmer’s practice areas. He has experience from litigation in complex cases and advising on potential disputes. In addition to holding a master’s degree in law, Elvar is a petroleum engineer and has practical experience in offshore work on various fields and oil platforms on the Norwegian continental shelf, including jack-up rigs, semi-submersibles, FPSO units, and fixed installations. Elvar has participated in providing services under oil service agreements with drilling contractors, which has given him a unique understanding of the technical and operational challenges in such offshore projects and has strengthened his ability to handle the legal aspects of contracts and negotiations in this industry.
