In Norway, the Transparency Act entered into force in July 2022. The Act serves as a frontrunner to EU legislation being developed as we speak and on its way into Norwegian law. The new EU rules on social sustainability are inspired by international frameworks on business and human rights, and inspired by other countriesʼ regulations of similar matters.

In an article published today in Oslo Law Review, we present the core obligations and principles of the Norwegian Transparency Act. The aim of the article is to highlight the distinctive characteristics of the Norwegian Act and reflect on where the road of business transparency on social and human rights has lead Norway so far, and where it may will lead us next.

Our excellent former colleague Tone Sørfonn Moe was part of the team drafting the article.
