Expertise
Maren Tveten has particular expertise in IT law, contract law and telecommunications. She has extensive experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating IT contracts, licence agreements, sales and procurement terms, and various forms of collaboration agreements, and regularly advises on telecom regulatory matters, including security requirements, reporting obligations, permits and dialogue with the Norwegian Communications Authority.
She has in-depth knowledge of the standard contract frameworks used in the public sector, including the Norwegian Government's Standard Agreements (SSA) and the Norwegian Computer Society's standard agreements. Maren has assisted a wide range of public and private sector organisations in negotiating and entering into such contracts, and has also lectured and published several articles on the various standard agreements.
Maren has also been seconded as in-house legal counsel to a major IT company, where she worked on tender preparation, contract negotiations and ongoing legal advice relating to the company's IT deliveries.
She also has considerable experience in dispute resolution relating to IT contracts, and has assisted clients in both negotiation-based and litigation processes involving breach of contract, delays and defects in IT deliveries.
Maren also advises organisations on data protection matters, including the development and implementation of compliance programmes, assessment of legal bases for processing and other advisory services to ensure compliance with data protection legislation.
Maren is an experienced speaker within her areas of expertise and has in recent years delivered the annual update lecture at the ICT Law Course organised by JUS. She has on several occasions been ranked among the country's most promising talents in technology and digitalisation in Kapital's annual lawyer survey, and topped the survey in 2026.
