Global uncertainty, new challenges and rapid technological developments are driving increased investment in defence and security in Norway and internationally. We assist Norwegian and international companies in navigating a complex regulatory landscape to seize new commercial opportunities.
Our team has extensive experience in assisting Norwegian and international players in the defence, emergency preparedness and security sectors. We advise on all areas of law and throughout all phases, including procurement processes, contract drafting and negotiation, the operation and maintenance of equipment and systems, disputes, financing, tax, and regulatory compliance.
The team works within the following main areas:
Regulatory advice
We ensure compliance with security legislation, sanctions regulations and export controls. We also handle international employment matters. The team conducts risk assessments and provides practical guidance on interpreting and complying with relevant rules.
Procurement
We assist with defence and other security-classified procurements. The team has extensive experience with relevant regulations, including the Public Procurement Act and Regulations (LOA and FOA), the procurement regulations for the defence sector (ARF), the regulations on defence and security procurements, international rules, and the Security Act.
Contracts, export and internationalisation
We offer tailored contract advice for complex defence contracts and assist with contract negotiations in Norway and on international projects. Our advice covers intellectual property rights, technology transfer, export controls, maintenance responsibilities, updates, and security clearances.
Transactions
We handle foreign direct investment (FDI) control requirements. We assess specific security risks in each transaction and ensure compliance with the Security Act. We also assess the risk of government intervention stemming from national security concerns.
Strategic advice
We provide strategic advice to players in the defence, security, and emergency preparedness sectors to help them stay ahead of regulatory changes and adapt to them. We help identify commercial opportunities and advise businesses on how to position themselves to seize them.
